Muriel Shoesmith papers, 1823-1973 (bulk 1919-1972).

Personal papers and records of national and state women's clubs, Sacramento-based organizations, and other public and organizational bodies to which Shoesmith belonged or in which she held office. Organizations represented include: California Federation of Women's Clubs (1931-1971), General Federation of Women's Clubs (1941-1961), Sacramento Women's Council (1957-1968), United Crusade, Red Cross, UNICEF, and the California Constitution Revision Commission (1965-1966). Includes papers relating to her position as lay representative to the United Nations founding conference in San Francisco, and papers relating to Shoesmith's interests in aging and Sacramento local issues. Also includes miscellaneous personal items, including notebooks, a book of poems (1823), a ledger (1855-1887), and two scrapbooks: the first containing greeting cards and other ephemera from childhood and high school, and the second containing clippings concerning the Child Welfare Division of GFWC (1950-1951).
