Handwritten and initialed note. The item was written on June 27, 1938 and comments on a photographic portrait made of Shaw probably in 1903. He considered the portrait "deceptive" and "undercorrected" because it failed to show his hair as blond. A copy of the photograph cut out of a magazine is also included.

Born in Dublin, Ireland, on July 26, 1856, George Bernard Shaw was the only son and third and youngest child of George Carr and Lucinda Elizabeth Gurly Shaw.
