(enclosing an autograph, extant); ALS from Stephens to George Pope Morris, [no year] Dec. 21 (thanking him for a loan of books and mentioning a young, sick, friend, Miss Ball, whom she is watching); ALS from Stephens to Anna Cora Ritchie, 1860 Jun. 5 (regrets she has been unable to send portrait, send condolences, and recommends a hair artist, a worthy lady moving to Mrs. Ritchie's town); and ALS from Stephens to Bellamy Storer, 1863 May (requesting a submission for a book on the history of American literature and requesting that he use his franking privilege to forward some magazines, observing that editors should be exempt from paying postage). Ithiel Town was an architect and bridge builder. He studied with Asher Benjamin in Boston and was a partner with Alexander J. Davis for a few years. Town was a leader in the Greek and Gothic Revival styles in American architecture.
