Gives an account of a conversation with army quartermaster general Montgomery C. Meigs about concern in Massachusetts over the government's buying supplies for uniforms from abroad. Meigs said that while he believed in supporting home industry, the foreign purchases were necessary to keep sufficient stock on hand. Andrew says that all the output of New England mills will be wanted as well. He asks that an account of the conversation be sent to the Boston newspapers, which have exaggerated the situation.
