Papers, 1787-1904.

The papers of the Parker and related families of Philadelphia contain miscellaneous correspondence, financial and estate records. The correspondence, in addition to routine family matters and local gossip, is occassionally concerned with politics, current events, and family conflicts over courtship and marriage. Included in the papers are: Christopher Marshall, Jr., wastebook, 1798-1799, 1804-1806; miscellaneous papers, 1807-1832 of Zaccheus Collins, merchant, mostly records relating to the estate of Marshall, Collins' father-in-law; George Aston receipt book, financial memoranda and estate papers (Z. Collins and D. Parker, successive executors), 1787-1835; Daniel Parker papers much of which is correspondence, 1816-1846, with Zaccheus Collins, Anne Collins Parker, and others pertaining to the secret marriage of Anne and Daniel, child raising, the 1824 election, and the Zaccheus Collins estate; letters, 1841-1848 to Charles Collins Parker from his father Daniel, classmates, and "guardians" Edward and Eliza Bull giving advice, reporting on friends and current events. Also included are letters from Caroline Willing to Dr. Edward Peace protesting his forbidden courtship ca. 1838; notes to Anna Coleman (who would marry first C. C. Parker and second Dr. Peace), mostly from Ellen S. Rand urging Anna to turn from her wicked ways, ca. 1840; Edward Peace financial memoranda, 1845-1857, and account books and letterpress book relating to his estate, 1879-1887, James Rawle and John W. Watts executors; personal letters to Joseph Peace, 1830 and Washington Peace ledger, 1843-1848; Rawle ? James Rawle letterpress book, 1885-1887, of legal and personal business; and miscellaneous Rawle family papers relating to mostly real estate interests.
