Newspaper clippings, magazine articles, some correspondence, poetry and other literary works, speeches, flyers, programs, obituaries and memorials (1937), and similar papers documenting the career of Laurence C. Hodgson, journalist, writer, and mayor (1918-1920 and 1926-1930) of St. Paul (Minn.). He worked for newspapers in Minneapolis and St. Paul (1894-1937) and from 1930 on was a columnist for the St. Paul Dispatch and St. Paul Pioneer Press. Hodgson was active in the Democratic Party, was an aide to a number of political leaders, and played an active role in the 1920 presidential campaign of James M. Cox and Franklin D. Roosevelt.
