A large collection of materials relating to Pomeroy's official activities as U.S. Army Paymaster. Included are correspondence with the U.S. Treasury and War Departments, 1862-1871; orders to the paymaster; 1863-1864; receipts for payrolls; special and general orders; statements of accounts with the U.S. Treasury Department, 1863-1868; payrolls and muster rolls of New York State regiments and regiments of other states, 1862-1865; hospital department individual discharge reports, 1862-1865; official letter books of letters sent by Pomeroy, bank account books for official Army pay accounts held by Pomeroy, and account books for Pomeroy's accounts with the U.S. Treasury Department. Also included are certificates issued by the Department of Internal Revenue for payment of income taxes on soldiers pay; ledger books recording stoppages of pay; and checkbooks, 1863-1868.
