John Walter Lambert papers, 1872-1932 (bulk 1900-1931).

School programs and class cards (1872-1899) of Tulane University Medical School constitute the early papers in the collection. Lambert's professional associations are documented by his appointments as chairman of the Board of Commissioners of Camp Moore Confederate Cemetery (1903); medical examiner for the Illinois Life Insurance Company (1905); local registrar of vital statistics (1918); mayor of the town of Tangipahoa (1923); and medical examiner for Pilot Life Insurance Company (1928). Letters, petitions, ordinances, and bills relate to Lambert's professional activities and appointments. Business papers are comprised of bills for merchandise, drug and tobacco licenses and certificates, and deposit slips of the Amite Bank and Trust Company. A letter (1924) and printed material (1899-1914) document Lambert's interest in the Tangipahoa Baptist Church and the Woman's Missionary Union of the Southern Baptist Convention. Ledgers (1886-1931) record patients' names and charges for medical examinations and drugs. Later volumes pertain chiefly to the J. W. Lambert mercantile and drug business and include 3 cashbooks (1899-1909); a checkbook (1933); 21 ledgers (1886-1931); 3 notebooks (1914-1931); and 7 record books (1902-1932).
