Letter, 1798 December 23.

Letter to Stephen Van Rensselaer. "I acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 17th instant enclosing one thousand dollars which I have on the 20th endorsed on one of the notes due last March. Mrs. Macomb will be very much obliged by a further payment on these notes, and is under the necessity of urging her request, as she is yet considerably in arrears on the payment of the house she bought of Colonel Walker. Mr. Harrison and Mr. Hoffman are unable to furnish any part of the money due." Written at New York, N.Y.
