Letters Received Relating to Recruiting (a series), 1863-1868.

Letters, reports, and related papers in jackets relating principally to the recruiting of soldiers for colored troops service. This file is continued in the main file of Letters Received after 1867. Papers dating much later relating to an individual are to be found in this file if the individual's original papers are filed therein. Applications for certificates in lieu of lost discharges, death notices, and the like are common. A great many of the later papers bear the mark of the Record and Pension Office.
