The journals are a daily record of regular, adjourned and special sessions of the U.S. District Court for the Territory of Dakota, Second Judicial District. The journals provide a daily record of proceedings held by the court in admiralty, bankruptcy, civil and criminal matters and contain entries relating to such administrative matters as the names of the presiding judge and court officers present during sessions, appointment of court officers, admission of attorneys to practice, selection and empaneling of grand and petit juries, approval of accounts of court officials, and naturalization and citizenship hearings.
