A transcript of Roger Nash Baldwin's oral history interviews in two volumes. In Volume I, Nash discusses his teaching at Washington University, his work in probation and political reform in St. Louis, pacifist organizations and activities in New York City, the development and activities of the A.C.L.U., the Free Speech League and Theodore Schroeder, the New Deal and such legal cases as Mooney-Billings, Scottsboro, and Sacco-Vanzetti. Volume II contains an interview by Thomas F. Hogan. Baldwin discusses the International League for the Rights of Man, the United Nations, his 1959 world tour and comments on several contemporary social and political figures. Forms part of Columbia University Oral History Collection (Part One).

Roger Nash Baldwin (January 21, 1884 – August 26, 1981) was one of the founders of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). He served as executive director of the ACLU until 1950. Many of the ACLU's original landmark cases took place under his direction, including the Scopes Trial, the Sacco and Vanzetti murder trial, and its challenge to the ban on James Joyce's Ulysses.
