Ledgers, 1793-1872 (bulk 1795-1872).

Ledgers, each begun by someone else. The first volume, which is indexed, was begun by Stephen Ludlow and continued by John M. Ludlow. It contains 70 or more accounts. Materials provided by Stephen Ludlow (who once makes reference to a "saw book") consisted largely of agricultural products. Stephen Ludlow's name appears in notes settling accounts dated [1805], [1809], 1818 and 1819 (all alone) and 1822 (with John M.); John M. Ludlow is first mentioned in like fashion in 1820. Materials provided by John M. Ludlow consisted chiefly of agricultural products, but also included clams, as well as labor. Flour is added as a commodity which he sold in John M. Ludlow's later ledger accounts, 1848-1872, which are at the back of the second volume. This ledger begins with accounts, 1801-1809, for an unidentified enterprise (most entries for "sundries") carried on at an unspecified location.
