Collection, 1778-1834.

An artificial collection consisting of letters, 1780-1834, sent by DeWitt to various persons; documents, receipts and a note signed by DeWitt (including one clipped signature); DeWitt's certificate of membership, ca. 1815, in the Berkshire Agricultural Society; and letters, 1778-1797, received by DeWitt from various prominent correspondents. Accompanying the collection is a letter, August 21, 1779, from Lord Stirling (at "Ramopogh") to Robert Erskine, DeWitt's predecessor as Geographer of the Army, and an undated note by Lafayette for whom the recipient (possibly DeWitt) is not stated.
