Text of four letters describing the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire and its aftermath. Two letters are from Bonnell; the first, undated, is presumably to Mabel Symmes and describes her and her family's movements through the city on the day of the earthquake. The second letter, written Aug. 29, presumably to Harold Symmes, describes a tour through San Francisco to view the remains of the city four months after the earthquake. A third, undated letter from "Mother" Symmes, presumably to Mabel and Harold, describes the effects of the earthquake in Berkeley and Oakland, and the use of Hearst Hall, University of California, Berkeley, as a temporary hospital. The fourth letter, also undated, is from Mabel Symmes to an unidentified person; it describes public reaction in Redlands to news of the San Francisco earthquake, and expresses concern for her family in San Francisco.
