Routine correspondence, 1924-1935.

The Office of State Auditor, established in 1819 to superintend the fiscal affairs of the State, was obligated to make and keep copies of its official letters (Ala. Code, Chapter 25, Article 3, Section 11 [1923]). This series contains copies of letters to and from the State Auditor regarding routine matters such as requests for information or publications. Some correspondence deals with activities of other State agencies such as the Pardon Board and the Budget Commission of which the State Auditor was an ex-officio member. The series is by no means complete because it may contain an answer to a letter but not the letter received or vice versa.
