Corporate records of the Minnesota Association of Commerce and Industry, a lobbying and mediating organization organized to serve the interests of business employers. The association was organized in December, 1908 as the Minnesota Employers' Association. In May, 1968 its name was changed to the Minnesota Association of Commerce and Industry. Subsequent name changes were: Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Jan. 1987) and Minnesota Chamber of Commerce (Jan. 1988). The purpose of the organization, as stated in the 1908 articles of incorporation, is to establish principles of fair trade and business, to disseminate business policies among its members, to arbitrate disputes among its members and between employer and employee, and to engage in political activity with members of the Minnesota Legislature to secure fair business legislation.
