Chief Counsel's administrative files, 1950-[ongoing].

This series consists of records generated or received by the Chief Counsel concerning any of the thirty-four authorities or boards for which the Finance Director has statutory responsibility as well as additional issues referred to him by the other divisions of the Finance Dept. Included among these materials are opinions on particular cases, contracts for services provided to the state, correspondence between the Chief Counsel, the Finance Director, and individuals in other authorities or agencies, site grant vouchers for the Industrial Development Authority (the governor grants permission for site preparation to begin at construction sites), newspaper clippings, diagrams, legal notices, certificates of incorporation, construction work plans, petitions and other reference items such as pamphlets and reports. Of particular interest are the minutes of meetings and other records of the Alabama Agricultural Center Corporation Board related to the construction of a coliseum in Montgomery to improve agriculture in Alabama in SG14616. Also of interest is William J. Spraggins v Henry Steagall, et al, in SG20203, a U.S. District Court order on higher education desegregation, made in 1991, and the Supreme Court ruling regarding proration in 1992, both in SG20200.
