Lock Weems was a native of Russell Co., Ala., and joined the Confederate States Army as a adjutant and later as a company commander in the 15th Alabama Infantry Regiment. He was killed in battle at Gaines Mill, Va., in 1862. His wife, Eugenia Holmes Blackmon Weems remarried in 1875 to James Goodwin of Hartford, Conn.
