Letters from Lu Hsün and Mao Tun, ca. 1930-1936 (bulk).

Includes about 12 unpublished letters from Lu Hsün and Mao Tun, and manuscripts, most in Chinese. Letters are addressed to Harold R. Isaacs (editor of China Forum, a newspaper published in Shanghai in the early 1930s) in response to Isaacs' request for help in selecting works for publication in China Forum. They are an invaluable source for the study of modern Chinese literature, as well as of Lu Hsün and Mao Tun themselves. Also included is a handwritten autobiographical sketch (in Chinese) by Mao Tun.
