Collection consists of personal papers, teaching records, and writings of Deane Waldo Malott. Personal papers include correspondence with HBS classmates and colleagues, a diary kept by Malott during a trip to Europe with classmates following their graduation in 1923, and two photograph albums containing photographs of Malott and his classmates. Of special note are planning materials related to the 55th reunion of the Class of 1923. Teaching records include course outlines and notes related to Agricultural Industries and Finance courses, and notes related to various cases. The collection also includes articles by Malott related to advertising, education, professional schools, and public utility management, among other topics.

Michael Harvey Malott was an Abilene, Kansas banker and founder of Bank of Malott and Company, later Citizens Bank, in 1885. Malott served as president of Citizens Bank from 1911 until a few years before his death, when he became chairman of the board. Malott died on February 18, 1952 in Abilene, Kansas. His son, Deane Waldo Malott, was born on July 10, 1898. He graduated from the University of Kansas in 1921 and Harvard Business School in 1923. He died on September 11, 1996. From th...
