Brief entry of cases pertaining to complaints against utilities and petitions by service companies for changes or extensions in services. Entries include correspondence cases giving case number, date of filing, date of closing, name of complainant and defendent, and nature of complaint; formal cases giving case number, summary of subject of hearing such as applications for stock issue, transfers of franchises, and reparations proceedings, and list of papers filed in the proceedings; and short notice and raparation cases giving case number, summary of petition or application, and a list of papers filed in the proceedings. The case numbers give references for Formal Case File series, [MSA T377]. Arranged by case number.

The Public Service Commission was established in 1910 to regulate public utilities and transportation companies doing business in Maryland (Chapter 180, Acts of 1910). Initially composed of three members, the commission currently consists of five members appointed by the governor for five-year terms.
