From a small beginning in May 1932, the Methodist Crusaders Choir, then with 75 choristers, was hurriedly formed and made its first public appearance at the General Conference Meetings of the Methodist Church of Australasia. It is primarily a hymn-singing choir, and the devoted members feel that the main purpose in their coming together is to spread the gospel message of the Church by means of song. Sabbath schools (or Sunday schools) in America made their first appearance shortly after the American Revolution. The first one was probably organized in Hanover County, Virginia, in 1786 by Francis Asbury.
