Account book, 1796-1811.

Records debits and credits accrued by the Smiths from 1796 to 1811 for such activities as making and mending plows, framing, building sashes and window frames, drawing timber, and sawing. The Smiths also made furniture, including cupboards, bedsteads, and a "chest for Chester." References to nails and other hardware items as well as a sawmill in Lenox are also found in the volume. Frequent mention is made of cider and apples along with various types of food. Pages representing a daybook of a medical practitioner, probably Luman Stevens, have been bound with Smith's accounts. Entries document doses of medicine prescribed, the dressing of wounds, drawing a tooth, and advice to patients.
