Aliens' declarations of intention to become citizens (New Haven), 1893-1906.

These are copies of declarations or "first papers" filed in State and local, as well as Federal, courts which were submitted by aliens to support their petitions for naturalization in the period after September 1906. Mostly from Connecticut courts, the declarations show name of the declarant; his residence, age, country of birth; the name of the foreign potentate to whom allegiance and fidelity would be renounced; thename of the court; and the date of the declaration.
