Daniel Jagger diary : ms, 1846-1860.

Leatherbound diary, primarily documenting Jagger's overland journey with other members of his gold mining company from Warren, Ohio to Georgetown, El Dorado, County, Calif., Apr. 1849-Jan. 1850; along with smaller sections of entries at the front and back of the journal, recording an 1846 trip to Lake Superior and daily conditions in Woodside, San Mateo County, Calif. Includes newspaper clippings (1850s) pasted and tipped in, consisting of articles, illustrations, maps, almanac entries, and travel distances by stagecoach and steamer. Also includes sketches drawn by Jagger, of natural formations, plants, and places; and a hand-drawn map of Sacramento County. Articles and illustrations focus on animal and plant life, natural landscapes and features, and gold.
