This series contains reports which cover the operation of the Department for a fiscal year. Included are a letter of transmittal to the Governor and the Legislative Committee on Public Accounts, and exhibits of (1) a comparison of appropriations, allotments, disbursements, encumbrances, and balances, and equipment purchases; (2) a comparison of years of examinations made with the prior year; and (3) a summary of audit charges. This description is based upon the report for fiscal year 1978, but the other reports contain similar information. Earlier reports may contain more detail, as for example, when the reports of examinations of various departments are given. Some reports may also include related items such as exhibits, notes and correspondence. Preceeding annual reports are presented under Commissioners to Examine the Offices and Accounts of Certain Public Officers, Accountant to Examine and Audit the Accounts of Various State Offices, Examiner of Public Accounts, Examiners of Public Accounts, Office of State Comptroller, and the Department of Finance. As above, earlier reports contain more narration and detail, while later reports include more statistical information.
