John Rockey Park was born May 7, 1833 in Tiffin, Ohio. He graduated in 1857 from the University of New York, as Doctor of Medicine. He came to Salt Lake in 1861. When the University of Deseret was opened in September, 1869, he was appointed as president by the Board of Regents. Dr. Park resigned in spring of 1892, and at that time the name was changed to the University of Utah. He died September 29, 1900. From the description of Records, 1869-92. (Unknown).
