Samuel Duffield, Philadelphia physician and pharmacist, was born in 1732. He received an M.B. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1768. Duffield died on 27 Nov. 1814. Duffield was a druggist, a naval surgeon, physician to the poor of Philadelphia, and consulting physician to the city board of health. He was also on the medical staff of the Philadelphia Alms House.
