Pension paid to veterans of the War of 1812 or their widows. Records divided by county listing names of pensioner, the related law, beginning date, and payment schedule. Maryland laws relating to these pension are: Laws of 1867, ch. 385; Laws of 1870, chs. 269 and 477; Laws of 1876, ch. 320; and Laws of 1878, ch. 350.

The office of Comptroller of the Treasury was established by the Constitution of 1851 to "have the general superintendence of the fiscal affairs of the state." The position is filled by popular election. The original four-year term of office was reduced to two by the Constitution of 1864, and increased to four again by the Constitution of 1867.
