ALS : Germantown, Pa., to James Ross, 1794 Aug. 6.

A letter intended to be delivered to Ross by Attorney-General William Bradford, who is to explain the purpose of his visit on arrival. (Both men were appointed as federal commissioners to negotiate with the leaders of the Whiskey Rebellion.) Washington also informs Ross, who was the attorney for his lands in western Pennsylvania, that he has referred a prospective purchaser to him.
