These papers contain the diary of Private Byrd C. Willis, Company B, 9th Regiment of Virginia Cavalry, 7 April 1864 - 22 May 1865. [The account of 29 October 1864 - 22 May 1865 was written fourteen years after the war]. Two printed forms relating to Willis' capture are included: parole and oath of allegiance, and a narrative "Recollection of the late war," written in 1908.
