This collection contains Stine's published articles and speeches in which he advocated the importance of fundamental chemical research. Of particular interest is Stine's CHEMICAL MARCH TO WAR which was published in SCIENCE SERVICE in 1942. Also of interest are articles on synthetic rubber, disposition of industrial wastes (1928), and the "The Place of Fundamental Research in an Industrial Research Organization" (1936).

Charles M. A. Stine was one of the leading research chemists employed by E.I. du Pont de Nemours & Co. (1907-1945).
