Chiefly Civil War letters to Isabella Crawford from her husband, Daniel McLaughlin Crawford (d. 1874), and their sons, David Hugh Crawford (1845-1893), serving with Kershaw's Brigade, John Alexander Crawford (1839-1910), serving with 2nd Regiment, South Carolina Infantry, and Andrew Crawford (1848-1907), describing military life and fighting in South Carolina, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, especially the Battle of Chancellorsville. Post-war correspondence includes that of the Crawford's daughter, Katherine Crawford (b. 1843), president of Wade Hampton Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy.
