Francis Nicholson was a member of the Council for the Dominion of New England and in 1688 was commissioned lieutenant governor of the Dominion. First British governor of Nova Scotia, 1710-1712, 1715-1717. Vetch, a Scotsman by birth, came to America in 1699 and settled first in New York, later removing to Boston.
