Letter (26 p.) written May 1, 1906 by Klauber to his sister, Alice, along with a printed copy in paper wrappers. Includes an introduction, supplement, epilogue dated Apr. 18, 1958, and footnotes. Klauber gives a firsthand account of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire, as experienced in Palo Alto. Klauber describes his trip into San Francisco that morning to find his sister, Ella Wormser, and her family, who were living on Webster St. Includes detailed list of the boundaries of the fire, based on maps (no longer available) made by Klauber immediately after the fire.
