Fragment of autobiography, pages numbered 25-26 and 31-41. Reminisces about a prostitute named Mary, his cousin Bob, his "strange crew" of friends, including Charles Baxter, Sir Walter Simpson, and James Walter Fenier. Relates anecdotes regarding pranks they played involving a fictitious "Mr. Libbel". List on verso of page 41. Poem in French on verso of page 39.

Robert Lewis (later changed to "Louis") Balfour Stevenson was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on November 13, 1850. He attended the University of Edinburgh intending to become a civil engineer like his father, but ill health curtailed his studies and prompted him to travel to warmer climates. This inspired Stevenson to write stories, novels and essays about his travels. While in France he met American artist Fanny Osbourne.
