ALS, 1801 May 2, Berlin, to Rufus King.

Adams, who had been serving as minister to the court of Berlin, tells King that he has been recalled by the outgoing president (his father, John Adams), and that he will return to Boston as soon as his wife is well enough to travel. He also asks King to deposit a bill of exchange and forward some letters.

Rufus King (March 24, 1755 – April 29, 1827) was an American lawyer, politician, and diplomat. He was a delegate for Massachusetts to the Continental Congress and the Philadelphia Convention and was one of the signers of the United States Constitution in 1787.
