J.O. Culver family papers, 1860-1905.

Personal and business correspondence and miscellany of J.O. Culver, of Calistoga, Napa County, Calif., pertaining to his roles as U.S. Army Paymaster and Post Office Inspector during the 1860s; together with a small amount of family correspondence (1887-1905) and miscellany. Family miscellany includes two snapshot photographs of J.O. Culver and his wife, Minnie Bliss Culver, and their house; several half-sheets from a registry of marriages; an undated clipping of a poem by Minnie Culver; undated articles of agreement for a house; an undated, unsigned, handwritten poem; a grammar school graduation diploma (1889) for Richard Culver; a pass from Knight's Stage Line (1897) issued to Mr. and Mrs. Culver; J.O. Culver's will (1884); and mounted clippings (1885) describing the Culvers' 25th wedding anniversary. Also includes correspondence (Mar. 1886) between J.O. Culver and Professor Austin F. Park, concerning Culver's proposed improvements to a quartz crusher. The letter from Park includes copies of U.S. patent drawings and reports.
