U.S. Mobile Land Office - lists of vacant and unappropriated land, ca.1870.

U.S. Land Office Registers kept records of public lands sold, patented and those unsold. This record lists vacant and unappropriated lands in the former Greenville and Demopolis Land Districts. The lists include the location, the number of acres and the price per acre. Included is land in Monroe, Conecuh, Covington, Butler, Crenshaw, Wilcox, Marengo, and Choctaw counties. These records provide information about the disposition of public lands in Ala. The Mobile Land Office was created in 1867 and moved to Montgomery in 1879.
