This series consists of statistical reports of wage and hour conditions in Ala. The reports, which were compiled by dept. field representatives from information supplied by businesses, support the dept.'s duty to make a continuous study of labor conditions in the state. Both manufacturing and service industries are represented. Each report contains the name and address of the business, the name of the manager, the total number of employees on the payroll and a detailed breakdown of wage rates, number of hours worked and number of employees by industrial classification. Some reports also contain supporting correspondence. Though not a complete survey of wage and hour conditions in the state, these records nevertheless add to our understanding of labor and business conditions in Ala. during the late 1930s.
