Burial permits, 1882-1891.

A collection of stub booklets retained by the city of Saratoga Springs recording the issuance of permits for the transportation of remains to a specified place of internment. The specific kind of information provided on each stub includes: 1) to whom it was issued, 2) name of deceased, 3) place of internment, 4) date of death, 5) place of death, 6) cause of death, and 7) certification of death by coroner or physician.

At least seven of the signers who were paid here may be found in Thomas L. Cook's Palmyra and Vicinity as prominent citizens (Palmyra, 1930; see index). Some also appear in Backman, The First Vision (SLC, 1980). Of one of these, for example who tried to help Martin Harris borrow money to print the Book of Mormon, we obtain some interesting background in Backman's work, pp. 30, 37 (regarding Henry Jessup).
