Frank I. Whitney letters, 1903.

Two letters (September 28 and October 3) to Frank Irving Whitney, general passenger and ticket agent for the Great Northern Railway (1888-1906), from two of the Minnesota delegates (C. W. Handley and M. A. Somers) to an Irrigation Congress held in Ogden, Utah, containing enthusiastic comments about the imptus given by legislation to Western irrigation projects; the work of the Congress; advantages to Minnesota of Western land development; and the dangers of land monopoly.

The Rexford, Mont., station of the Great Northern Railway was established in 1903. It was closed in 1972 when the railroad was rerouted due to the flooding of the area behind the Libby Dam.
