Scandinavian trip files, 1947-1948.

Correspondence, itineraries, journal notes, press releases, speeches, and related materials documenting Governor and Mrs. Youngdahl's January 1-19, 1948, journey to Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. It was sponsored by Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS). The Youngdahl's met with royalty in Copenhagen, Oslo, and Stockholm, and visited the Swedish birthplaces of both their fathers. The Governor was also awarded the Grand Cross of the Royal Order of North Star in Sweden.

Luther Wallace Youngdahl was born in Minneapolis on May 29, 1896, the son of John Carl and Elizabeth (Johnson) Youngdahl. He was educated in the Minneapolis Public Schools, attended the University of Minnesota for a year and then transferred to Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter, Minnesota.
