Rewards for the apprehension of fugitives from justice, 1891-1895.

These records document Governor John Young Brown's role as chief executive in the apprehension and arrest of fugitives from justice. Included are proclamations signed by the governor, offering a reward for the capture of each fugitive, and related correspondence. Especially noteworthy is the September 1893 reward offered for William "Cap" Hatfield who had been indicted in Pike County for the murder of a member of the McCoy family.
