Armorers papers, 1783-1839.

Contains recommendations and applications for the position of armorer. Also includes armorers' reports listing quantities of individual arms, supplies, and equipment. Many reports are from Frederick Town, including a detailed description of the town's magazine and a request from the governor to remove French prisoners from jail. Reports also list conditions of arms such as age, damages, and repairs. Includes bonds for arms as well as orders from the Governor and Council concerning the disposition of arms signed out to individual commanders and receipts for arms delivered. Arranged chronologically.

The Society of Maryland Guardsmen was formed in 1907 as an un-incorporated association of the officers of the Maryland National Guard.
