Autograph album, 1876-1880.

The autographs express common sentiments of friendship, and sadness at parting. They appear on blank interleaved pages in Happy child life in pictures by Oscar Pletsch; with rhymes for mothers and children by Mrs. Charles Heaton. The pictures, color lithographs, depict a European, perhaps south German, rural childhood.

Mary Margaret Heaton was the daughter of London silk merchant J. Keymer, who introduced her to his friends among London's literati. She married Chemistry Professor Charles Heaton, and made a name for herself as an authority on art. In addition to her writings about art, she authored several children's stories.
