Personal and business records of the Webb family of Essex and King and Queen counties, Virginia, but most notably of James Webb (1762-1832), a lawyer and member of the Virginia House of Delegates. Included are ledgers, journals, and memorandum books containing plantation and household expenses, as well as accounts concerning his law practice. There are also materials relating to Webb's handling of certain cases which include correspondence, accounts, bonds, receipts, invoices, and other chancery documents. The remaining portion of the collection is miscellaneous business and personal correspondence and accounts of the Webb family and court records, including bonds, deeds, appraisements and inventories, which are arranged chronologically by month and year.
