Interview conducted by Alan Cherry as part of the LDS Afro-American Oral History Project by the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies at Brigham Young University on 7 March 1988. Johnson was born in Boston, Massachusetts. Her family moved to Chicago, Illinois when she was a small child. She discusses her early family life and experiences as a Catholic. She talks about her conversion to the Mormon Church as well as about her courtship, marriage and others reactions to her interracial marriage. She talks about her husband's attitude to the Mormon Church and her current life as a Mormon.
