The Ray Saw Mill Company records contain administrative files, which include correspondence, maps, reports, tax documentation, contracts, financial records such as bank statements and canceled checks, payrolls, recipts, travel vouchers, expense accounts, and other financial documentation. The oversized maps have been removed to the map collection. The two bound oversized volumes are a journal (bookkeeping), which incorporates a 1938 financial statement of the company and a ledger which has 1920 contruction accounts for houses for whites, blacks, and supervisors. The records document the activities of the company in Ala., Ark. Fla., and Miss. A few of the significant correspondents include the Ozark Badger Lumber Company of Wilmar, Ark., the W. T. Smith Lumber Company, Chapman, Ala., the Ala. Dept. of Industrial Relations, the L. N. Dantzer Lumber Company, Moss Point, Miss., the Robinson Land and Lumber Company of Greene County, Miss., and the Vredenburgh Lumber Company, Vredenburgh, Ala.
